It’s All About Pop Art For The Palace x Jean-Charles de Castelbajac SS20 Collection

Palace Skateboards unveiled the full look to its latest collaboration with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. This is the second time that the Moroccan/French visionary artist/designer is joining forces with Palace and we must say that it still screams JC/DC. Perhaps, louder.

De Castelbajac is known for his use of unconventional materials and is a designer who knows a thing or two about exuberance. However, he didn’t start out in fashion the way he is now. JC/DC in the 70s was not associated with fun cartoon motifs and child-like art, and this is seen in his A/W11 collection where he wanted to bring back his old classics into this particular collection for nostalgia’s sake. It was sombre, minimal and showed the demure side of De Castelbajac.

Fast forward to present days, JC/DC has formed a closer gap between art and fashion by working with artists like Warhol, Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Cindy Sherman. His latest work with Palace expresses the cheerful nature of Pop Art and features the special range built on JCC’s signature poetic writings and artistic illustrations in rainbow hues.

The capsule collection for summer 2020 includes hoodies printed with Jean Charles de Castelbajac’s “doodles” on the classic Tri-Ferg hoodies, button-up shirt and knit crewneck sweater with illustrations by the artist. When it comes to headwear, the duo will release bucket hats with a full print design and a selection of Palace/JCC embroidered caps.

Mark your calendar as the Jean Charles de Castelbajac x Palace SS20 capsule will be available through an online-only global release starting June 26, 11 a.m. EDT on the brand’s official webstore.
