#CCINDEX: CARHARTT  #CCIndex is a compendium providing the need-to-knows of the movers and shakers of street culture, regionally and internationally. Founded by Hamilton Carhartt in 1889, Carhartt is known for its durable and functional work clothes originally designed for manual labourers in the United States. Despite its initial focus to cater to workmen, there has been a growing and steady demand in the streetwear scene where they have gone to create their own line of streetwear clothing under the name Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP). Starting out with 2 sewing machines and 5 employees in an attic in Detroit, Carhartt established the needs and wants of railway workers and slowly crafted the signature overall bib we know today. Since Detroit was the main business district of America, it was a smart move for Carhartt to offer their heavy-duty workwear and it has been [...]

Armor Up in Space Ranger And Cowboy On Your Feet words by claudia 12.06.2020 BAIT has announced the release of their latest collaboration with Reebok — a Disney Toy Story-themed sneaker made in the style of the classic Instapump Fury. The Instapump Fury is a style of shoe that incorporates the brand’s Pump technology and is characterised by its cut-out upper and laceless fit. Its outlandish silhouette has attracted the likes of BAPE and Vetements and this Toy Story iteration continues to amplify its aggressive styling with mismatched prints on each pair. Fans of the duo were thrilled to see its vibrant colours woven into character-matching details which surfaced last Summer as a promo sample. A little over a year later, a release date is finally confirmed by the United States-based retailer. On top of [...]

From the styrofoam packaging to the signature ‘CUP NOODLE’ in red, Bandai captured it in a 1:1 model created from a 3D scan to accurately represent the cup, noodles and flavouring accoutrements. The best part is the model can be constructed in three minutes just like an edible Cup Noodle would. The model is priced at ¥2,420 JPY (approximately $30 SGD) and is set to release on September 18. Daniel Arsham Fast Forwards to Pokemon from Year 3020 words by claudia 01.06.2020 Nanzuka Gallery has announced the hosting of Daniel Arsham’s much-anticipated solo exhibition titled “Relics of Kanto Through Time”. These sculptures are the first collaborative art project with Pokémon which timely follows their apparel collection with Uniqlo UT scheduled to be released in Singapore this June. Featuring icons of the Pokémon franchise such as Charmander and Eevee, the characters are reimagined and constructed with the contemporary artist’s ongoing practice of fictitious archaeology. Crafted to mimic erosion, each piece resembles an unearthed artefact thousands of years from now and viewing it in present time creates an experience of travelling through a passage where past, present and future are reassembled. Made with pyrite, selenite, volcanic ash, glass and obsidiancapture to create its corroded appearance, the [...]

Marc Quinn’s ‘Viral Paintings' Is A Visual Record Of The Pandemic words by claudia 26.05.2020 Marc Quinn’s (@marcquinnart) ‘Viral Paintings’ are a visual diary of the Covid-19 pandemic.
